Update
This is an excellent basic book covering all aspects of the menopause, at the perfect level for the interested GP.and generous with its evidence base.

Pharmaceutical Physician
An impressive range of topics is covered . clear succinct text and plenty of tables and figures . highly recommended for those wanting a quality primer.

Postgraduate Medical Journal
I recommend this book as an up-to-date quick reference guide addressing the issues of the menopause

Irish Journal of Medical Science, 2003
This small book certainly provides a comprehensive, easy-to-read overview of all aspects of the management of menopause. Its presentation is appealing to the eye. I particularly like the boxes which highlight important points. there is a particularly good chapter on premature ovarian failure and the section on endometrial cancer is excellent. I have no doubt that all GPs and gynaecologists will find this volume of value, and competitively priced.

Hospital Medicine 2003
The book is very readable and avoids unnecessary use of medical jargon. It includes enough information for menopause clinic nursing or medical staff to give balanced advice to patients.

Ten per cent of the world's population are menopausal women and approximately 25 billion women become menopausal every year. An increasing number of hormonal preparations for the management of menopausal symptoms are available yearly. Based on the latest evidence, this book reviews hormonal and non-hormonal treatments, evaluates the role of HRT in osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease prevention, and assesses the risk factors - such as venous thromboembolism associated with the new therapeutic options. Highlighted practical recommendations are provided throughout this concise guide.

Written by authors with different yet complementary areas of expertise, The Menopause in Practice provides a broad overview of this rapidly changing area of gynaecology. It will be a valuable resource for general practitioners, hospital doctors, gynaecologists and postgraduate students of medicine; all should find something new within these pages.
